It’s been an interesting week in politics, especially for the Democreeps.
I seldom read David Brooks and probably you do not read him either. For conservatives, the only reason to read his articles is to induce vomiting in case of poisoning.
He’s too liberal – ick. He writes for the New York Times – ick, and ICK. But, unfortunately, he’s very smart and typically does a fine job of denigrating, disparaging and belittling the Republican Party. So I was surprised to read his latest missive, wherein he he proctoscopes the Democrat Party – and NOT GENTLY!
[Source: Democrats Go for the Jugular! (Their Own), by David Brooks]
The article is too well written not to quote directly. “The Republicans are led by a… president whose approval ratings are near historic lows. The Republicans in Congress embrace one unpopular policy option after another (remember, he’s a liberal), so that all the signs pointed to a G.O.P. blood bath in the midterm elections.
“All of this has left those of us in the pundit class with a frustrating problem. Obviously, the Democrats were going to find some way to screw this up. But no matter how much we pulled and stretched our imaginations, we couldn’t quite figure out how exactly they were going to do it.
However, Brooks is kind enough for us Republican dullards to explain how the Dems managed to do it in detail. Here are the salient points:
- First, the Democrats embraced the always-promising Guy Fawkes option. Republicans have shut down the government several times over the past few decades. The strategy has failed every single time. Democrats looked at this unbroken string of self-immolation and concluded: Of course! This is what we should do!
- Second, when Democrats get all excited, they go into a hypnotic trance and think the entire country is the Middlebury College faculty lounge (i.e., Mr. Brooks’ clever way of saying that the left believes the American story is a story of systemic oppression). They believe that white hegemony is the world’s single most important problem and it’s worth shutting down the government for illegal aliens (even a group of illegal aliens the American public feels empathy toward).
Third, Democrats devised a brilliant Tao Te Ching messaging strategy (yes, I know -way too cerebral!).Tao Te Ching apparently grasped the “paradoxical infinity of ultimate truth.” If you’re wondering what that means, the example is that the Democreeps were trying to make the following argument: “We bravely shut down the government to save the Dreamers even though Donald Trump is responsible for shutting down the government.”
Fourth, the Democrats launched a series of devastating blitzkrieg assaults on themselves. First the Dems capitulated when they realized public opinion was turning against them even though they owned the media. Kamala Harris was “furious.” Ezra Levin of the Indivisible Project called it “morally reprehensible and political malpractice.” Cory Booker’s cried what my parents called “crocodile tears.”
- Fifth, the Democrats have set themselves up brilliantly for future capitulation. The Republicans had already promised a DACA vote. They Democrats tried to salve their base saying they “negotiated a DACA vote.” Wow, even simpleminded leftists could see through that one. Now the Republicans know that the Democrats are not prepared to try it again.
Well done Democreeps. Keep it up. I have a twenty dollar bet that the Republicans hold the House and Senate in the midterm elections. It’s nice of you to help me win that bet.
And thanks to CAG for sending this to me.
