Couple things about Trump and Melania.

There are many ways to compare Donald Trump and his predecessor. It is abundantly clear that Donald Trump is not the “silver-tongued orator” that Barack Obama was. But we knew that before the election. Americans wanted someone “real” in the White House, not a painted caricature with a teleprompter and a puppeteer holding strings in the background.

They wanted, for example, someone raised with enough respect for our nation to keep his feet off of the Resolute Desk.

And as far as “oration” goes, there were many times I asked myself if the man ever shuts up (Obama delivered 699 speeches according to statistics compiled by CBS reporter Mark Knoller) or can utter a complete thought without a teleprompter. Apparently he was a silver-tongued reader, not orator.

He lost his teleprompter during the campaign for Hillary. He wanted to tell America how unfit Mr. Trump was. Take a listen to the definition of “unfit.”

Their differences in management style are front and center these days. For example, there are 110 fewer employees on White House staff under Trump than under Obama at this point in their respective presidencies.

Mr. Trump has NO CZARS! Obama eventually had 45 czars.

Nineteen fewer staffers are dedicated to our First Lady. Currently, there are five staffers dedicated to Melania Trump compared to twenty-four staffers who served Michelle Obama (FY2009).

He is obligated by law to “take” his salary, but President Trump donates all $400,000 to the Department of the Interior where it will be used for construction and repair needs at military cemeteries!

Trump actually visits military cemeteries.

Thanks Mr. President. Sorry the media hasn’t covered any of this.

The differences between the President who disliked America as it was founded and the present President who loves and respects America are profound.

  2. Flayer says:

Obama kept promising to “fundamentally change America.” I kept screaming at the tv: “Change America from what to what?” Nobody ever seemed to ask the question or wanted the answer. Sadly.

  3. old student says:

oh my god you Roy et al… you are insane. “Loves and respects America?” Look, if you want to support Trump because you believe his administration will support conservative agendas, that’s one thing. It’s a passable argument that you don’t have to be a good person to lead the country and make decisions that benefit the country. But to start celebrating his generosity or compassion as you implicitly are doing with that picture in the cemetery? Those of us from NYC remember 1980s Trump. We know Trump. 2017 Trump has not changed. We are all just praying that the country’s interests line up with Trump interests for the next 3.5 years.

Sorry. I didn’t realize you were a personal friend of the President. Or did you “know Trump in the 1980s” from newspaper accounts? If Americans “know Trump” from today’s newspaper accounts, I can see your confusion.
