President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Rex Tillerson as the next Secretary of State. He will, of course, replace John Kerry. Thank God.
Tillerson is the current Chief Executive Officer of ExxonMobil, the sixth largest company in the world. ExxonMobil has a market cap of $250 billion. Not unexpectedly Tillerson has a healthy stake in this corporation and owns $240 million in stock shares. The Democrat Party is demanding that he divest himself of these shares. I don’t often agree with the Democrat Party, but, at the very least, Tillerson should place these shares in the blindest of blind trusts.
But here’s the thing. John Kerry is married to Theresa Heinz-Kerry. She is the heiress to the Heinz Ketchup fortune. Mrs. Kerry is worth between $750 million and $1.2 billion. Do you remember any Democrats raising a brouhaha about this during his presidential run or during his appointment hearings to become Secretary of State? Me neither.
And thanks to PK for sending this to me.
