My friends, this is the ignoble end to which a “college education” has come.

It has finally happened. A professor, Michael Rectenwald, who is crusading against “political correctness” has been suspended. Why is that, ask you? Because, answer I, his colleagues complained about his “incivility.” This idiocy occurred at the prestigious New York University.
Rectenwald told the New York Post that he was forced on Wednesday to go on paid leave for the remainder of the semester. “They are actually pushing me out the door for having a different perspective.” The move probably originated from an interview he gave Heat Street. In the interview he called academia a mad house with “safe spaces.”
Rectenwald claimed that the current politically correct culture of trigger warnings, safe spaces and bias reporting have fomented a culture of hyper-protectionism, hyper-vigilance and self-surveillance. Importantly, and somewhat surprisingly, Rectenwald is a liberal studies professor ay NYU!
I am reminded of the speech Michael Douglas gives in his role as the president in the movie The American President. Importantly he plays a flaming liberal president in the movie. “America isn’t easy. America is advanced citizenship. You’ve gotta want it bad, ’cause it’s gonna put up a fight. It’s gonna say, ‘You want free speech? Let’s see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who’s standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours…’ Now show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms.“
Again my friends you are witnessing the left’s assault on freedom of speech. Why would liberals finally assault free speech after espousing it for decades. They must do it. They have come to realize that their altruist plans for American society simply do not work and, therefore, must be forced down the throats of our citizenry as if we are recalcitrant children who refuse to take their medicine.
