The new Inquisition.

I am confident that nearly all of my readers will have heard that state and federal prosecutors are taking aim at any companies that challenge the “climate change religion.” They believe that “climate change” is an unassailable fact.

We can return to that nonsensical position in a moment, but there are a couple of items about “inquisitions” about which all thinking people should be aware. They are not simply grotesque. They are extremely damaging!

[Source: 16 Democrat AGs Begin Inquisition Against ‘Climate Change Disbelievers,’ by Hans von Spakovsky]

[From the Spakovsky article] Beginning in 1478, the Spanish Inquisition systematically silenced any citizen who held views that did not align with the king’s. Using the powerful arm of the government, the grand inquisitor, Tomas de Torquemada, and his henchmen sought out all those who held religious, scientific, or moral views that conflicted with the monarch’s, punishing the “heretics” with jail sentences; property confiscation; fines; and in severe cases, torture and execution.

One of the lasting results of the Spanish Inquisition was a stifling of speech, thought, and scientific debate throughout Spain. By treating one set of scientific views as absolute, infallible, and above critique, Spain silenced many brilliant individuals and stopped the development of new ideas and technological innovations. Spain became a scientific backwater.

Stalin, Mao Tse-Tung, Fidel Castro, and Pol Pot are more modern instigators of “inquisitions.” Take Stalin as an example. The estimates of Stalin’s murderous rampage ranges from 22 million to 55 million Russian (or Soviet) citizens. However, he didn’t give orders like “Go out and kill the next 55 million Russians you see.” He very methodically eliminated anyone who was not a “believer.” In so doing he murdered a vast number of intellectuals, scientists, and more importantly, individuals in government positions who did not “tow the party line.” He then replaced these government personnel with… well, there’s no putting lipstick on this pig – moronic criminals. Many on the left believe that communism collapsed so rapidly in the USSR because of this massive miscalculation.

Pol Pot was not just criminally insane but remarkably stupid, as well. He wanted to create an “agrarian society” – sound like some ecoterrorists in our great nation. He knew that intellectuals would challenge this doctrine. He planned to get rid of “intellectuals.” In his deranged mind he reasoned thusly. Intellectuals must read a lot. If the read a lot, they damage their eyes and require glasses. So he sent his henchmen out to murder everyone wearing glasses! The downstream effect of murdering EVERYONE with an advanced degree and EVERYONE that spoke a foreign language… well one doesn’t need to be an “intellectual” to see the future effects.

We now have a new inquisition in the United States. Should any thinking person believe our results will be different from Torquemada’s, Stalin’s, or Pol Pot’s?

[From the Spakovsky article] Speaking at a press conference on March 29, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said, “The bottom line is simple: Climate change is real.” He went on to say that if companies are committing fraud by “lying” about the dangers of climate change, they will “pursue them to the fullest extent of the law.”

The coalition of 17 inquisitors are calling themselves “AGs United for Clean Power.” (I keep telling you that progressive/statist/altruists are much better at naming things than conservatives – RF!) The coalition consists of 15 state attorneys general (California, Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington State), as well as the attorneys general of the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands. Sixteen of the seventeen members are Democrats, while the attorney general for the Virgin Islands, Claude Walker, is an independent…

Schneiderman and Kamala Harris, representing New York and California, respectively, have already launched investigations into Exxon Mobil for allegedly funding research that questioned climate change. Standing next to Schneiderman throughout the press conference was the grand inquisitor himself, former Vice President Al Gore, who has stepped into the role of Tomas de Torquemada.

My friends, there is no good that can come from this. This is why the Democrat Party must be defeated in the next election. It is critical.

Here’s an observation in the form of a question. Have you noticed that the Al Gores of the world and his ilk — those who make up this so-called AGs United for Clean Power and others in the confines of Academia — never invest, never study, never invent, never unite to put their own financial resources, their own intellectual might and their own lives into the development of the very clean power they desire? Gore, in his contemptible hypocrisy, dares to criticize the thinkers, the doers and builders, muddied in the trench of life , as he basks in the very creature comforts made possible by those he judges. This country is in a deep hole but you have one thing to thank God for — can you imagine Gore as President? Leech is one word that comes to mind. DT

You are being too kind to the former Vice President.

Actually, Gore is immoral, but made a fortune and lives a very comfy life on his fraud. I blame those who followed him. I understand that many in government saw the unimaginable power and they could achieve without firing one bullet, just by getting people the government and UN the power to regulate all energy. It was/is pretty successful until now, but is in danger of losing the willing lemmings. This AG group
is a sign of their increasing desperation. We must keep up the pressure. Voting out some or all of these corrupt AGs would be a start, because none of the REALLY believe their own bs. Just look at how they live their own lives. If you truly thought something was devastatingly dangerous would you do it? Unlikely. Yet they don’t turn down transpacific private planes, warm homes, cooled homes, autos and so on. Their justification is that THEIR business is so much more important that yours. Challenge the on if they think that energy use should be only for important people like themselves who don’t even have to pay their energy bills. We do.

  5. FC says:

Not only are these evil (or very naive) people trying to take over energy production and replace it it with expensive, inadequate and dangerous alternatives, but they are destroying science itself by teaching total nonsense. When I went to school (before politicians took over education) any sophmore or junior engineering student could have shot this (climate change) hypothesis full of holes using just basic scientific principles. Today students are being taught politically correct science, which is no science at all. It is no wonder we have a STEM crisis. We are entering a new dark age with regard to real science!

  6. libertyphysics says:

If these AGs were private citizens one could call them anti-science hypocrites. But since they wield the power of law they are unvarnished fascists, abusing their positions and power for political ends, unconcerned who they harm. Moreover, they are probably engaged in an extortion racket, overlooking the sins of individuals and corporations who support the right political party.
